STI promoting innovation-based economy in Thailand

Thailand's National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI) has launched the Talent Mobility (TM) Academy project to promote innovation in Thailand.

Permsuk Sutchaphiwat, the Chief Inspector-General of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said the project is a joint effort between the STI, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi and its network.

The project was developed with the aim of increasing the number of trained professionals in the industrial sector and to encourage manufacturers to invest in research and development. Permsuk claimed this would drive Thailand towards becoming an innovation-based economy.

Director for Innovative Platform for Workforce Development of the STI, Asst Prof Dr. Poolsak Koseeyaporn, said there is an urgent need to produce skilled professionals in Thailand in order to increase the capability of the industrial sector.

Industrial experts from the STI and the university will pass on their knowledge to owners of small and medium size enterprises under the TM Academy project to enhance their businesses.

ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. DPM Prawit:Govt yet to set dates for political party meetings

The Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs has insisted it is not yet time for the government to set clear dates for meetings with political parties or to lift the ban on political activities.
