The Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, as the President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, led a group of Thai athletes to meet the Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, at Government House in Bangkok on Monday (Aug 6th).
The meeting took place ahead of the 18th Asian Games, which will be held in Indonesia from August 18th to September 2nd, 2018.
Gen. Prayut told the Thai athletes and officials, who will be participating in the Asian Games, to uphold sportsmanship and strengthen friendship with participants from other countries.
The Prime Minister said the objective of a sports competition is everybody must have sportsmanship. He said they could learn a lesson from a victory or a defeat.
In addition, he encouraged them to do their best as representatives of Thailand, and praised them for their hard work, which earned them spots in the national teams.
