Thailand’s north and northeast will have to brace for more showers and gusty winds from August 5 to 8.
The Ministry of the Interior has instructed local officers in all regions of Thailand especially the north and northeast to be on heightened alert for heavy precipitation and strong winds, as well as possible flashfloods and mudslides.
Local governments are preparing life-saving equipment and relief items as well as evacuation plans in case of an emergency.
Members of the public are advised to keep abreast of the weather forecasts and heed all warnings.
As for the nine flooded provinces: Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Roi Et, Kalasin, and Yasothon, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation is working with the military and local state agencies in draining flood waters out of residential and economic areas while distributing necessities including food and clean water to affected residents.
Those in need of immediate assistance can call Hotline 1784 at any time twenty-four hours a day.
Waves in the Andaman Sea will be around two meters high.
